What to expect during a hyperbaric oxygen therapy session

Category: HBOT

During an HBOT session, you may experience various sensations, including: 1. Pressure changes: As the chamber is pressurized and depressurized, you may feel pressure changes in your ears, similar to when you are on an airplane. To equalize the pressure, you can swallow, yawn, or perform the Valsalva maneuver (pinch your nose and gently blow through it). 2. Warmth: Some individuals may feel a mild warming sensation during the session. This is normal and is a result of the increased blood flow and oxygenation. 3. Temporary myopia: In rare cases, individuals may experience temporary nearsightedness during or immediately after an HBOT session. This is usually temporary and resolves on its own. 4. Fatigue: HBOT can be physically and mentally relaxing. It is not uncommon to feel tired or sleepy during or after a session. It is important to listen to your body and rest if needed.
